Hi; I will assume you are referring to the CJ6 canopy and not the Yak 52,etc. They MAY be the same but I don't really know. So, to remove the front slider on the CJ6: There are 3 bearings on each side riding in the tracks. Those bearings will remain in the track with the canopy removed. >From inside the cockpit locate a hole on each side of the slider track area (bottom) closer to the aft end. Holes approx. 8-9 mm (5/16-11/32") in dia. These are screwdriver access holes to the head of the bearing retaining screws. There is a special wrench to remove the oval shaped nut from each screw. I would assume Doug Sapp will have that. You need it. You also need a blade type screwdriver either brand new or in perfect condition with the following features: Blade width approx. 7 to 8 mm, blade thickness 0.5 to 0.75 mm (0.020 to 0.030 ins.) at screw contact. If you can't find one this thin carefully grind one to fit. >From here it is a two man operation. One in the cockpit to line up each bearing screw to the access hole and hold the head with the screwdriver while the nut is removed. With all 6 nuts & washers removed, one man on each side to, ONE SIDE AT A TIME, spring the canopy frame clear of the bearing bolts and remove. Folks, A close friend of mine is dying of cancer and is expected to pass in the next few days. He is a former WWII P-51 pilot having served from August 1944-to November 1945. It would be nice to get a flyover for his funeral. Is there are some Yaks or CJ's in the area who could do it, let me know. Of if you know of a group who can do it, send me the info. Thanks in advance. Tim Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=420429#420429

Tim, Why not a flyover before your friend passes? He would certainly be more appreciative prior to death rather than after. He is currently in hospice and not really lucid. They do not expect him to survive the next few days. michaelrorth wrote: > Tim, > > Why not a flyover before your friend passes? > He would certainly be more appreciative prior to death rather than after. > > Just a thought, > > Michael > > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- > > -- Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=420437#420437
