After popping off and servicing discontinued, hissing will continue (slowly diminishing) until pressure settles at around 32 ATM. Although probably plenty for a few start attempts, I want to fix the problem and have the full 50 ATM available. I know the valve is adjustable, but is the hissing a separate problem that needs to be addressed? Also, what specifically is causing the valve to hiss? Thanks. The pop off valve has a rubber seat inside of it. It gets old and hard, yours probably needs to be replaced. Very easy to do. I just did mine. Got p arts from Doug Sapp. Last week. He will be out of country for about another w eek. You might try adjusting the valve in a bit and retry the servicing. It m ay help. Don't turn it in to far on the attempt. I have heard of guys putting in a manual "bypass" dumping air from the compr essor overboard to "unload" the compressor for more HP. I would think this is both A) minimal increase in HP (1 - 2 HP?) And B) once your air is "topped off" doesn't the pressure relief valve or "pop o ff" valve open and perform the exact same function?
