The obvious question is whether you have dynamically balanced the propeller
after changing it. We regard this as absolutely vital to smooth operation.

Hi All
I have just replaced an engine and prop in my cj6 and now have a bit of a
vibration.
On low Rpm it feels normal but at about 1200rpm there is a bit of vibration
on the aircraft taxing at higher rpm about 1400 rpm it seem to go away.
while flying there is a definite vibration on the stick.
At low rpm 1700 to 1900 the vibration its not to bad and I would describe it
as a slow vibration but as you increase the rpm the vibration speeds up
quite a bit shaking the stick . It does not feel as if the air frame is
shaking abnormally but only on the stick.
Does anybody have a suggestion as to what it could be or is it just an
unbalance prop.

Subject: | Fuel shut off valve |
Fuel shut off valve does not completely stop the flow of fuel on my Yak55M.
When I took it apart there was a loose spring (not attached to anything)
in the housing. Looks like it is there to spring load the flapper valve but
not sure how it says in place. The flapper seal looks like it needs to be
replaced. Anyone have any experience servicing this valve.

A few questions on your prop installation;
Was this a new prop. in 2 steel boxes from China. If so it would be
perfectly balanced assuming you have set the blade angles correctly - with a
propellor protractor, and properly positioned and torqued the clamps.
While I agree with Richard about dynamic balancing that is a final step to
match a properly balanced propellor with the rotating mass of the engine.
Correct installation comes first.
Please advise the details of the prop and engine you installed.

Thanks for the reply's.
It was used blades I got from the guy I bought the plane from After installing
the blades we did discovered that the no 1 blade was a bit longer than the no
2 blade?
I have taken them off and send them to our local propeller shop to do a static
balance and then we will do a dynamic balance and see if it is better.
Will let you guys know.

You will need to send them the hub also. They will have to match the two
blades in length, width and thickness before installing in the hub for both
horizontal and vertical static balance.
Unbalance correction is made with steel plates attached to the hub assy.
After that it should be good assuming the blade angles are set within
tolerance which is 0.1 deg (6 min.). I try to set them within 0.05 deg. (3
min.)
Dynamic balance may not work very well on this prop. as there is no spinner
structure. For dynamic balance the corrective weight could be required
anywhere within 360 degs. With no spinner plate to accommodate that you are
restricted to a limited area at each blade only.
