The blue desiccant colour tracer is Cobalt Chloride which is a common allergen
apparently and should be handled carefully, hence why it's being phased out to
be replaced with various orange tracers. The Orange Green one is Methyl Violet
I believe, which is considered safer.
Moreover Cobalt Chloride is a metal pitting agent (like all chlorides) that no
doubt contributes to the aluminium alloy desiccant filter housing internal corrosion.
So aside from toxicity moving away from Cobalt Chloride should help extend
the life of your filter, either that or acquire one of Doug's stainless steel
versions!

the factory I was informed that the EPA has ordained that the blue stuff is not
good for us anymore so they could not sell it to me. I guess Spruce never got
the message (or has a bunch of old stock). Anyway, the current opinion by those
who look out for us is that the orange (turns to grey/green) is safe for
us to use, guess the blue stuff killed their rats. Just kinda makes you feel warm
and fuzzy all over knowing that these folks are looking out for us.

Only took a pint for the neighbors cat. Blew out with such force that it left claw
skid marks across the garage floor. Neighbor is still trying to figure out
what that permanently stained reddish ring is on his cat's ass...I just smile...no
cat prints on the freshly washed cars any more? Gave new meaning to "Purple
Haze Blowout!

a word to the wise to use only Doug's recommended dessicant.
