The tube base says 6x6 and 6k8 but a google search finds nothing easily found for the 6x6. Underneath is it says 6 (2 k's back to back) 6c I'm not sure if that back to back k symbol is meant to be translated as a K. Any help would be appreciated. I know I an just buy the whole amp, but I've seen this symptom before where the needle just goes round and round, and tube replacement fixed it. -- Ernie Nanchang CJ-6A ________________________________ Message 2 _____________________________________ Time: 10:40:46 AM PST US Subject: Re: Yak-List: Compass Amplifier Tubes From: doug sapp Ernie, Actually the truth is that it is normally NOT a bad tube. It is normally just dirty or corroded connectors. Use a SS or brass brush to clean the contractors, 90% of the time if fixes the problem. I know of no tube available here in the US which will replace those in the FL-3. If anyone out there has this information please share it as these tubes are very hard to find. In fact I have not been successful in the last 3 orders to China, I have been able to buy only new and overhauled FL-3s, but no tubes. You will need a nico press tool to install a new cable in your CJ. I was able to find the 6k8, but not the 6x6, but then again, I may have read it wrong. If you know the proper lettering I'll do the research. I know that I did source tubes on my old CJ, and there were American equivalents. Theres nothing much more to go wrong in these amps. Any mech worth his salt has a tool, the swage is included with the cable.
