Hi, After touching down the Yak started to shake violently. After reducing some speed the shaking ended. Checking the airplane, the nosewheel shimmy damper shaft was sheared. What I would like to know is the reason for this failure. I mean, Is this a problem of hard landings?, maybe a bad design? or just fatigue? Thanks, Jose del Peso

Just had a delightful experience with Desser. Back in May, I UPSed a couple of 500X150 mains for retreading for my CJ. Two weeks went by without a word from Desser. Left messages and emails, but no response. Odd. Then last week using Desser's message feature on its web site, I ask for help. Gus at Desser got right back to me. With UPS's tracking number, Gus confirmed that they'd received the tires but couldn't locate them. "We're very sorry about this. It's not the way we operate. We'll send you two new tires now for the price of retreads," Gus offered. Great product. Great folks. -- ... Blitz Byron M. Fox 80 Milland Drive Mill Valley, CA 94941 415-307-2405

You did not mention the before condition of your dampener. If the shaft that holds the dampener to the plane is worn or any of it's components or the dampener it's self is not serviced or the tire is out of balance for long periods causing some of the fore mentioned issues it can cause pounding of the parts until something fails. I have seen a lot of dampeners loose hanging from the strut waiting to fail. I have personally shown some of the pilots this and they just look at me and say "yea that's how it was when I bought it" Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=429713#429713

Quick question , seeing as I'm using the whirlwind W530 2.5 meter blades on my Yak55m. Is there any recorded height for Yak55's. where do we measure? How do we know how much if any our undercarriage has sagged. I'm certainly very wary of bumpy strips and always land 3 point. Thanks guys a great forum. -------- SteveO Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=429729#429729

Hey Peter, I'm operating a Yak55m. Was just wondering how you are finding the SU29. I just love my 55m, but never flown a SU. why did you choose a 29? Cheers Steve. -------- SteveO Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=429730#429730
