Unless you are desperate for originality, my own experience is that once
they start misbehaving it can be very difficult to get them working
correctly, and that you are better advised to save a lot of time (and
indeed weight) by replacing the instrument and the remote gyro with a
Western analogue!

Subject: Yak-List: Yak 18T Attitude indicator
Have an -18T attitude indicator that starts to erect but then cages.
When reset it starts up again and then cages. The -18T manual calls for
attaching a piece of test equipment for checking operation but no
diagnostics or repairs. Does anyone know of an instrument shop that
works on these instruments? Instruments for sale?

George - we have done the same thing, and were surprised by the numbers of
parts that were different between the AI 14 and the HS6 engine!

Hey guys, I have a client looking for AI14RA engine parts. Are the engine
parts generally available?
The Chinese CJ6 engine was a originally a license built AI14RA engine. The
Motorstar factory has disassembled several of the Chinese engines and has
found the parts identical to the AI14 engine.
