I would be very cautious about only changing a connecting rod and hoping
that no other damage has been done - it takes a lot of force to bend the
connecting rod, and we have seen cracked crankcases; crankshaft halves
moving in relation to each other, and other problems. Certainly for any
engine that I was going to fly behind, I would want to make sure that
everything had been checked!

Can the bent rod be replaced without removing the engine?
Does the crankshaft have to come out to change the bent rod?

Richard and Dennis that is why I said "When you get to this point, you may a
s well pull the whole engine down, IRAN it, and rebuild it." He's going to h
ave the engine pretty well torn down by that point so he may as well IRAN th
e thing. I agree I would not trust the engine either.
