Roger that. Those aluminum washers are pretty useless second time around. Subject: Propellor Friction Question
    From: "AcroGimp" <jlknolla@aol.com>
Thanks all for the help to-date I now have a new 'newb' question. Tried search but was unsuccessful. On my -52 I have found that if I don't put about 30-40% throttle friction in the prop lever will walk back towards about 70% - it does this pretty quickly. In cruise no big deal but for formation it makes the throttle a little sticky which adds to workload and makes more precise inputs (well, as precise as the M-14P can be anyway) difficult. I have been flying with the throttle lock approach for a while so I am not sure how far back the lever will try and go but it moves pretty briskly with no friction on. Prop seems to govern properly under all conditions with only minor surging with big throttle excursions sometimes needed in formation. Is this indicative of a prop setting issue (e.g., governor or counterweight, etc.) or just something in the throttle quadrant? Suggestions to improve this so the prop will stay where put without having to engage the friction lock? Funny follow-up... Yesterday system did not pump up in flight regardless of action (e.g., gear handle UP, or neutral). This was curious because flight on Monday system behaved flawlessly for first time ever. Nothing out of snot valve on shutdown so scrubbed planned 2nd flight, started at compressor and found the infamous banjo fitting to have worked itself loose. Removed the safetywire, tightened it back up, re-safetywired - check flight tomorrow (fingers crossed). Funny how things like this happen when you have something important to do like All Red Star (leaving for Porterville Thursday AM if banjo fitting was issue). Another place to locate crush washers in a pinch is a GM dealer as some GM vehicles use the banjo fitting on the front brake calipers, they are also metric. From: Jay McIntyre <cjaviator@gmail.com>
Hi all, being more conversant in things Nanchang and Haosai related, I have a customer looking to buy an M-14PF engine that has a 'B' or western prop flange. He wants to put a V530 hub on it with Whirlwind blades. Can anyone confirm for me if the V530 hub is now made with a western style prop flange rather than the original splined flange? Thanks, Jay New Zealand

Jay, All M14P (papa) have flanged crank All M14B (bravo) have splined crank V530 hub will fit P only J9-G1 (285 hp) splined hub will fit B, but not sure about the use of V530 BLADES in J9-G1 hub. As I recall it has been done but I cannot tell you the outcome. There are a few CJ's flying here with M14B and J9-G1 propellers, some say they are much faster at the same power setting than the M14P powered CJs. I have 2 sets of V530 blades (with logs) in stock if needed. Thanks Doug.... Sorry - i should have used the term 'serrated' instead of 'splined' when referring to the hub mounting method. So the question should have been: 'Can anyone confirm for me if the V530 hub is now made with a western style prop flange rather than the original serrated flange?' The engine he is looking to buy has a 'B' or western style prop flange which I understand to be similar to the Hartzell mounting method. regards, Jay Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=441016#441016

George Coy at Gesoco in Vermont can get you a spline prop shaft to replace the western prop shaft. Then you can have him ship it to Jill and Carl at M14P and ship the nose case to them and they will do the swap for you. I know as I have done just that. Alternatively, switch to a MTV-9 prop that comes with your flange of choice.
