Doug,
I spend time looking at the Gill Shutters the other day to better
understand the mechanism. This is the best I can describe, the shutters
themselves (almost all of them have some play but probably typical as
the =99slots=99 don=99t appear to be worn), the nose
case studs appear to be fine, the center ring has some play/movement in
it. Here=99s the scenario, during flight with the shutters closed
about halfway the air pressure tends to push them closed further. I=99
m wondering if it has to do with the teleflex cable or spring tension on
the knob in the cockpit then the actual shutters????

Shutters themselves are loose?
Center rings are worn, loose in this area??

I have a hard-to-find top dead center
tool for the YAK/CJ for sale, please see
attached picture.
When you look closer, this tool is modified
so it may not accidentally turn when the
piston is coming up.
Asking price is US$120 plus shipping.

as probably some of you know already,
I have just sold my beautiful CJ to two
very nice gentlemen from Victoria :-(
Now I am selling off my spare parts
inventory and special tools.
I will give the YAK-List members first
pick and if it is not selling, it goes on ebay
for more money.
