I have read thru the list related to cold weather starts but found nothing directly related to how I should prep my plane prior to starting in cold weather. I have an oil heater but what I am asking is if I should pre-heat the engine too. I have always done that on other planes as a complete safety factor but really never knew if this was actually needed. Obviously, it doesn't hurt. If I do pre-heat, I am trying to decide how to design/build a system for the Yak. I appreciate any comments.

I just finished installing a Whirlwind spinner and this is the tool I finally made that helped immensely - similar to Mark's post. Dennis Savarese suggested this to me and it worked great. Of course I did drop the nut several times before getting to thread. -------- Ron Penrose YAK-52 N352BW Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=448226#448226

I figured I would post this so anyone else looking will see similar but slightly different solution.
