Subject: | 55M Titanium Landing Gear |
I'm in the process of looking at 55M's and I've got a question regarding the Titanium
spring gear up front. One that I've looked at is slightly more sprung
meaning that it is riding on the inside of the tire more so than the other 55
that rides more on the center of the tire. Is there a criteria for checking this?
Is this an issue indicating some hard landings?
Thanks,
Don

That is an absolutely standard problem on the 55. You don't have to do many
poor landings to start bending the undercarriages, which is clearly what has
happened here. But the right people can bend and re-temper the undercarriage
if it is removed, so it is not a permanent problem.

Richard,
Is there anyone in the US who can do this, or is it best to ship the gear back
to Europe or Russia for this repair?

230 degrees/sec is quite a bit of difference from 345/sec. I'm leaning more to
the M for this reason. I may be totally wrong, but you can manage energy in
the M, but you're stuck with a slower roll rate in the 55. I guess it all boils
down to preference.

Subject: | Re: YAK 52 Flexible hoses complete set list?? |
Hi all
A few questions on the hoses, for the collective wisdom of the group experts:
- The hoses currently on my aircraft have a life of 7 years from manufacture, as
per the documents delivered with the hoses. I also see some people talking of
10 year life hoses. Are the 10 year hoses a Western equivalent, or are there
10 year life hoses available from the OEM?
- Is there any "conversion kit" to allow use of Western style hoses and end fittings,
eg Aeroquip?
ThanksMike

Subject: | Yak-52 Data Plate |
Hi all
I have one of the older Yak-52s - flush riveted type. Due to a move from one registration
to another, I have had to do some running around to determine the actual
identity of the aircraft. In all the documents the aircraft is referred
to as number 800910, which I take to be the year of manufacture (1980), the batch
(09), and the sequential number within the batch (10). The data plate on the
rear of the fuselage has the inscription "0910" and then the date 19-06-1980.
It does not explicitly state "800910".
On investigation, it appears that this is actually the data plate for the fuselage
- it has the fuselage part number 520100-00 on it.
Is there an actual aircraft data plate for these early aircraft, or did they simply
adopt their numbering from the fuselage?
ThanksMike
