Subject: PLEASE READ - Matronics Email List Fund Raiser During November!
Dear Listers, Each November I hold a PBS-like fund raiser to support the continued operation and upgrade of the Email List and Fourm Services at Matronics. It's solely through the Contributions of List members (you) that these Matronics Lists are possible. You have probably noticed that there are no banner ads or pop-up windows on any of the Matronics Lists or related web sites such as the Forums site http://forums.matronics.com , Wiki site http://wiki.matronics.com , or other related pages such as the List Search Engine http://www.matronics.com/search , List Browse http://www.matronics.com/listbrowse , etc. This is because I believe in a List experience that is completely about the sport we all enjoy - namely Airplanes and not about annoying advertisements. During the month of November I will be sending out List messages every couple of days reminding everyone that the Fund Raiser is underway. I ask for your patience and understanding during the Fund Raiser and throughout these regular messages. The Fund Raiser is only financial support mechanism I have to pay all of the bills associated with running these lists. YOUR personal Contribution counts! This year we have a really HUGE and TERRIFIC line up of free gifts to go along with the various Contribution levels. In fact, there are over 22 different gifts to choose from! There's something for everyone, to be sure. Most all of these gifts have been provided by some of the vary members and vendors that you'll find on the Matronics Lists and they have been either donated or provided at substantially discounted rates. This year, these generous members include: Andy Gold of the Builder's Bookstore http://www.buildersbooks.com Andy is a very generous guy and I encourage you to visit his web site. I would like publicly to thank Andy for his generous support of the Lists again this year!! Please make your List Contribution using any one of three secure methods including using a credit card, PayPal, or by personal check. All three methods afford you the opportunity to select one of this year's free gifts with a qualifying Contribution amount!! To make your Contribution, please visit the secure web site: http://www.matronics.com/contribution I would like to thank everyone in advance for their generous financial AND moral support over the years! Thank you! Matt Dralle Matronics Email List Administrator RV-4/RV-6/RV-8 Builder/Rebuilder/Pilot

It depends what you're trying to climb over afterwards. A warm day in summer over here, full fuel and two gorillas gives 285hp quite a lot to do. 360hp or more makes a big difference. I've had the Yak in and out of Brimpton (local farm strip of 525m) with plenty of room to spare (this gorilla plus gorilla senior) but the Nanchang is a bit less comfortable. -------- CJ and Yak-52 owner Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=448463#448463

Yes, they used the fuselage data plate as the aircraft serial number.Dennis From: Mike Beresford <mike_beresford@yahoo.co.uk> To: Yak-list <yak-list@matronics.com> Sent: Saturday, October 31, 2015 10:08 PM Subject: Yak-List: Yak-52 Data Plate Hi all I have one of the older Yak-52s - flush riveted type. Due to a move from one registration to another, I have had to do some running around to determine the actual identity of the aircraft. In all the documents the aircraft is referred to as number 800910, which I take to be the year of manufacture (1980), the batch (09), and the sequential number within the batch (10). The data plate on the rear of the fuselage has the inscription "0910" and then the date 19-06-1980. It does not explicitly state "800910". On investigation, it appears that this is actually the data plate for the fuselage - it has the fuselage part number 520100-00 on it. Is there an actual aircraft data plate for these early aircraft, or did they simply adopt their numbering from the fuselage? ThanksMike

My personal view is that the six year life on the original Russian hose material is correct =93 and remember that oil and fuel hoses are a safety-critical item. There is also the separate issue that the Russian material is becoming incredibly expensive, and they will also typically only sell in huge lengths. We have developed a process to modify the Russian metal ends to accommodate Western hose material, which has a 10 year life. And of course once the ends have been modified, one can subsequently replace with the same material. My personal view is that the figures are more likely to be 260/sec and 320/sec. The disparity is nothing like as large as between 230 and 345 I am sure these figures are very incorrect! I'm leaning more to the M for this reason. I may be totally wrong, but you can manage energy in the M, but you're stuck with a slower roll rate in the 55. I guess it all boils down to preference. Sorry if there was a problem with my previous message. What I was saying was that the lifetime of the Russian material is officially six years, and my belief is that people should stick to that for what is a safety-critical item. In addition we are finding it almost impossible to find the Russian flexible hose material, and when we do it is extraordinarily expensive. So we have worked out a system to machine the metal ends to enable them to accept Western flexible hose material, and so give them a 10 year life. This is done officially with the EASA "form one" =93 the highest qualification for an aviation component in Europe.
