Dan, Which metric fittings? Are you looking for the thread size callouts on numbers: 16, 12, 10, and 8? These are the common designations found on the CJ. Craig Payne

Thought I would chime in on this one a couple years back my mechanic sugges ted new hose for my Yak 52 and I felt it would be wonderful to order up a c omplete set of hoses and started a quest to find someone with a complete se t of hoses sitting on a shelf ready for delivery called the factory Aerosta r no luck=C2-then started calling in the US=C2-everyone said send your hoses to me and I'll put new hose on your fittings, by the way if you do go this route Jill has=C2-your old fittings cad plated and they look new wh en finished where my hoses were done did not do the cad plating. Then I fou nd a company that sold metric fittings so I grabbed a couple Yak 52=C2-fi tting's and presented the Yak 52 fitting's to this dealer and found that th e metric threads are=C2-NOT standard and the matting surface is also not standard I think it was 5 or 10 degrees from standard. He did mention that fittings could be machined with a minimum order of 100 at=C2-$45.00 each and I think there are 15 to 20 different fittings.Long story short sure wou ld be nice to order up a complete set of hoses at a reasonable price=C2-b ut I found this unlikely send your hoses to Jill. On this same topic, I removed the six air fittings from the rear gear handle and noticed that a flow restrictor fell to the floor of the cockpit. Which line did it come from? In the diagram I note a restrictor on the line that goes to the NLG actuator. Is that the one? Thanks, Gil Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=449238#449238

How does the oil cooler come out? It seems that it is lodged between the ducts on either side which look to be riveted in place! Gil Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=449239#449239

Bill; I have no direct experience with the Yak 52 tube fittings but am near certain they are identical to the CJ. Someone please correct me if that is not so. The following is based on that assumption. The flare angle is the aviation standard of 37 degs. which is also true of all AN and MS hardware for =9Cflare type=9D tube fittings (there is also an MS compression type). If tube/pipe (rather than tube/tube) the pipe thread is universal. On the small 6 mm tube fitting it is 1/8=9D pipe thread. The same as AN, MS and SAE fittings. The tube end thread is metric but, like SAE thread, there are coarse, fine and very fine variants. The Chinese utilized Russian thread standards (why I assume the CJ and Yak are the same in this area). But I believe that Russia (and Eastern Europe?) used a different thread pitch for this purpose than Western Europe. It is possible to mix and match fittings, tubing and =9CB=9D nuts (with varying degree of complexity) utilizing AN and Chinese/Russian in the 6 and 8 mm tube sizes. Not too likely in the 10 and 14 mm sizes. It is quite possible that some Yak/CJ owners have used SAE fittings rather than AN standard assuming they are physically the same due same thread on both ends. Where SAE differs is the tube flare. It is 45 degs. (90 degs in SAE parlance) NOT the aviation standard of 37 degs. Hope that helps a bit.
