Guys,
When we changed to the M14p engine on my CJ back in the late 90s, we also took
out the generator and went with an alternator.
Well, life being what it is, my alternator died this fall after 17 years of loyal
service.
I took it to my local Dynamo shop to see if they could do something to revive it,
but after kindly looking at it they gave it back to me with the "deer in the
headlights" look on their faces.
So it would seem I am back to square one.
At this point, I am looking for info on the alternator to see if I could just buy
a new one and install it.
Here is what I know about it:
It is an AC Delco 24 volt alternator.
We cannot find a model or part number on it.
I believe it was sold by Yakity Yaks, but am far from certain.
The rotor shaft was changed and a base block was machined to fit the M14p.
If anyone out there know about these alternators, specifically looking for model
or part number, I would appreciate the info.
Thank you.
Dan

You are not the first one with this problem. It was a nice piece of
machine work but now leaves you in a hopeless situation. The answer is
to go with the Band C alternator system. Not cheap but it works. You
will also have to sort on the wiring changes that were made and add some
new parts Circuit breakers (3) and some new wiring. Follow the B&C
instructions. Contact Jill for information.

Subject: | CJ Wobble- No Pressure/Check Valve |
Hey All-
attempted a start the other day and had zero fuel pressure from wobble pump
and handle had no resistance like it was not "primed" at all.=C2- Remove
d pump and no fuel spilled from in or out fuel lines like it should have.
=C2- Pump is fine so my question is has anyone ever found the check valve
to cause a problem before.=C2- It is located in belly slightly left of c
enterline aft of the nose wheel well and there is a small hinged access pan
el.=C2- It is plumbed in parallel to the wobble pump and I assume is ther
e to keep fuel from backflowing from the firewall back to the header tank.
=C2- Have never touched that check valve.=C2- Possible blockage?=C2-
Can I pull the check valve without draining all fuel from the aircraft?=C2
- Ideas?
thanks - Hoot=C2-Hank Gibson

Hey Doug, is this the trip you have been promising Kathleen by taking her
to the mountains?? Hey Hawaii has a mountain or two. Outside Kanapalli
(sp) you can watch an absolutely breathtaking sunrise. Get there early
0430 am and don't be surprised if you see a line of tail lights for miles
going up to the top. A religious experience. Thanks for everything you do.
