Take a look at these pictures - for me one is marked as a 25 and the other a 26
magneto (CD-5).
Can you have two differently timed magnetos on the one engine as long as they are
timed to the engine at the appropriate setting?
This is on an engine overhauled in 2014 in China, and shipped straight to us. Also
it appears the shower of sparks lead screw in the distributor cap was not
done up, then the engine was turned or even run like this and it chewed up the
top of the rotor.

Yes, you can have two differently timed magnetos on the same engine as long
as they are timed properly on the engine.=C2- The difference is only .7
degrees (6.2 vs 6.9).
And yes, someone definitely forgot to tighten the shower of sparks lead scr
ew before placing the distributor cap in place on the magneto.=C2-

And you can use Chinese mags on the M14P. You can even mix mags - one
Chinese and one Russian, which I had to do on one occasion. As Dennis po
ints
out they to be individually timed on the engine.
