Subject: FAST Formation Clinic @ Historic Wendover Field!
    From: "barryhancock" <bhancock@worldwidewarbirds.com>
UNCLASSIFIED (i.e. Please Share!) Mountain West FAST Formation Clinic, KENV, May 26-29 Gang, With 6 weeks to go we have confirmed volunteer ground support check pilot support, instructor support, airport support, hotel support, and airport support. What we need is participant support! In order for the even to break even we need 10 paid registrations. This will cover the costs of pilot snacks, lunches, the welcome BBQ, and one room for volunteer ground personnel support. So, if you can both take the time toREGISTERby sending me a quick email or registering at www.flyredstar.org This would be most helpful for our planning purposes. Im currently working with Clover Control to get some Restricted Airspace carved out for our Formation Operating Areas, and discreet frequencies. There is a possibility I will have the Aerobatic Practice Area Waiver over the airport approved by then, also. This is great airspace and a great time of year to get the rust knocked off before the summer flying season or begin the journey towards a FAST card. We are grateful for the members of the Utah Wing of the CAF, CAF HQ in Dallas, TRARON, the RPA, and NATA for all stepping up and pledging their support. There is every reason for us to be sharing resources and making good on the pledge that FAST is FAST by training to a common standard, understanding operational differences, and supporting our precious privilege to operate these great airplanes. Here are the event details: WHO: Any pilots interested in formation (if you do not have a tandem seat, bubble canopy aircraft, pleasecontact meto see what we can work out) WHAT: FASTFormation Clinic. Brand new formation pilots, those interested in being a brand new formation pilot, and seasoned veterans alike are all welcome. (More on expectations in an upcoming email) WHEN: Thursday May 26 thru Sunday May 29. Ground School will be Thursday at 1600 followed by a BBQ on the ramp amidst historical WWII hangars. WHERE: KENV, Wendover, Utah (on the Nevada/Utah border)home of much WWII history and adjacent to the Bonneville Salt Flats. Located approx. 90nm due west of Salt Lake City. WHY: Why not?! Camaraderie, high quality training, and fun. Cost of the clinic will be $95 and includes a welcome BBQ on Thursday evening, lunch each day, pilot drinks and snacks, and whatever pilot schwag we can come up with. This is a great opportunity to visit and fly at a truly historic airfield - selected byPaul Tibbetsto train the B-29 crews that ended WWII in the Pacific. Tons of ramp space, great facilities including a B-29 hangar we can use if we get bad weather, and open airspace. If you would like to come pleaseREGISTERso we can get a headcount. Registration fees will be collected on site. IMPORTANT - Below are the following hotels for which we have negotiated group rates. Please use the group code FORMATION CLINIC to get the discounted rate. Wendover is a border gambling town so they tend to sell out on the weekends. Please make your reservations ASAP to ensure you get a room. ***QUALITY INN - 15 rooms blocked $65 for 2+ nights, $75 for one night (435) 665-2226 ****BEST WESTERN PLUS 10 rooms blocked- $99/night (435) 665-2215 Please contact me directly if you have any questions, and please spread the word! I use the same tow bar from Sporty's and added a 2" hitch to it I attach with 1/4" bolts and wing nuts when needed. Works well as a simple tiller when pushing/pulling by hand. Keep an eye on it, the sliding bar for tension has worked itself somewhat loose several times after the paint wore off in the sweet spot. I normally give it a good kick if I'm pulling it with a vehicle to set the tension tight. I have a Minimax Aircraft Tug. See their site below. Made in the US. Guaranteed for life. Very well built. Works great on my CJ. A Yak may need a different setup but I understand he has already designed and shipped a number. Fantastic support. Mine was the first he had to build for the CJ-6, so I'm sure there was engineering costs in it ($1,500). At 76 the airplane is heavy as hell - - I know what you mean. https://www.minimaxtugs.com/Articles.asp?ID=251 Jim "Pappy" Goolsby In a message dated 4/13/2016 2:11:34 P.M. My little 3 ft RU with 12 in. Fingers that came with my YAK escaped from the container at the POE facility in 2003. Supposedly it happened when customs o pened the container for inspection in Charleston. I have my suspicions thoug h. After all how could Big Dog have gotten his big self up in the tail of hi s 52 to change the cable guide for the upper elevator cable? I know he claim s it was Bull Dog that climbed back in empennage but that's impossible, BD i s 2 feet taller than that midget Russian and his fingers are only 6 inches l ong or so his wife claims. I personally have not measured. But, if you see t hat little bugger running around in YAK tails at the Aiken airport let me kn ow. Doc, I fixed a catapult tow link on a Prowler with a good swift kick one nig ht to go on a night training strike on Carl Vinson. Told the tweaks it neede d adjusted and they didn't believe me until they checked it after my "adjust ment". Still have a large calcium deposit on top of my foot for proof. Mad e the flight. Boot was a little tight when I took it off after I trapped. From: "jetjockey" <jetjockey@alumni.utexas.net>
I have the manuals from Doug but they show the wiring diagram for the old style voltage regulator. Does anyone have an updated diagram that shows the wiring and pin outs for the solid state voltage regulator? Thanks in advance.
