I have a question. Does the outside of the wheel, Part facing away from hub
come off. I need to access the nuts to remove the brake drum from the
wheel. There are some clips on outside of hubcap side of wheel. Or do
rivets have to be drilled out to access from that side
Thanks

I forgot to mention, if you remove the cover, you'll have two choices.=C2
- 1 - reinstall the cover and if you choose this option you may want to t
ry drilling and tapping out the rivets with a 4mm tape.=C2- Reinstall the
cover using 4mm button head screws.=C2- Makes for easy removal should yo

You really do not need to remove the hubcap to change out the drake drums,
but you will need to fashion a special 90 degree wrench.
The "rivets" are not rivets, they are steel drive pins, not unlike the ones
used to attach data tags on Lyc and Cont. engines. If you try to drill
them out you will, unless everything goes 100% correctly and you are real
good with a drill, ruin the wheel or at the least make it impossible to
reinstall the hubcap properly. To properly remove the drive pins you will
need a pair of end cut wire cutters. Grind the face flat so that the jaws
contact the head of the drive pin as close to the hub cap as possible.
Squeeze down firmly but not hard enough to cut off the head, and turn the
cutters counter clockwise and the pins will unscrew out of the wheel.
Hope this helps.

RE: Yak-List: Compressor Yak55MHi;
Since the subject is Yak 52 wheels which are identical to the CJ I can
respond. If it is the Yak 55 I have no idea.
The =9Crivets=9D you refer to are not rivets. They are
hardened steel drive pins which cannot be drilled out and are not
intended to be removed.
Simply remove the lock pin and the bearing nut as you would for a
routine clean and re-grease operation.

=C2=B7 Check that the over pressure relief valve is closing

cockpit floor accessible through a covered opening in the fuselage.
Do your Yak 55M have a compressor unloader fitted? If not, the system
gums up faster as the compressor is pumping all the time and the
pressure relief valve is popping all the time.

How long has it been since the check valve was pulled and cleaned. You
will most likely have to pull your compressor though. Check with George

I'll chime in with a question of my own, re: CJ6 wheels... I've not yet had
my wheels apart, tho I'm sure it would be helpful for a cleaning.
What size socket is needed for this large wheel nut? Any special tools
required (Doug S), ie- breaker bar, bearing puller, etc?
Wish I could watch or assist someone doing theirs before I ever try my
own... videos out there?
Thanks all-

a pair of end cut wire cutters. Grind the face flat so that the jaws
contact the head of the drive pin as close to the hub cap as possible. Squeeze
down firmly but not hard enough to cut off the head, and turn the cutters
counter clockwise and the pins will unscrew out of the wheel.
Hope this helps.

I have a question. Does the outside of the wheel, Part facing away from
hub come off. I need to access the nuts to remove the brake drum from the
wheel. There are some clips on outside of hubcap side of wheel. Or do rivets
have to be drilled out to access from that side
Thanks

Subject: | Stainless Steel Exhaust Needed |
Good evening Yakkers,
I am desperately in need of a piece for my Housai stainless steel exhaust. I managed
to toast the piece on the Number 2 cylinder (top left if you're sitting
in the cockpit). Checked with both Doug and M-14P to no success. Looks like I
may have to get one shipped from China unless anyone out there has one they would
be willing to sell.
Thanks!
Carter
