Dennis Savarese" Subject: Re: Yak-List: Gear handle See if the problem also exists in the rear cockpit with the front gear sele ctor in neutral and retracting the gear using the rear gear selector.=C2- If it still leaks, most likely one of the gear actuators is allowing air p ressure to pass by the internal seals.=C2- If the problem goes away when you use the rear gear selector, then most likely you have a bad front gear selector. The only way I know how to determine which actuator it is is to physically remove the B-Nut from the UP side of each actuator one at a time and listen for the air leaking from the gear selector.=C2- If it goes away, you've found the leaking actuator.=C2- The UP side of the actuator is the fittin g closest to the chrome shaft which extends/retracts.=C2- It's a 90 degre e elbow.=C2- You can also put a small amount of saliva on your finger tip and place your finger tip over the 90 degree fitting.=C2- If the actuato r is leaking you'll feel the air on your finger tip. One more thought....if you find one actuator leaking, you may want to overh aul all three because the other two actuators may not be far behind startin g to leak.=C2-=C2- If it has been more than 5-7 years since they were o verhauled, you may want to "bite the bullet" and just overhaul them and the shuttle valves at the same time.
