Good day, does anyone have a lead on an oil cooler inlet plug for the wing root. Are they commercially available or are people handcrafting their own. Doug is out of stock. Please contact me offline, Thanks, Phil Nicholson C-FEPN

Phil, as you suggested, here's my reply to all... =C2- Do you mean the oval=C2-hole that inducts air at the wing root?=C2- If so, why not manufacture your own using any sort of material.=C2- I used a nd old "For Sale" sign; cut out the oval, painted it red, glued a "Remove B efore Flight" streamer onto it.=C2- But there's more to the story... =C2- I use the oval I described because I installed a wire mesh.=C2- Before th e wire mesh was installed, I used=C2-a stuffed toy dog with the "Remove B efore Flight" streamer attached because it looked cool (at least to me).=C2 - The stuffed dog was of course=C2-a Chinese Pug... fitting I thought. =C2- Anyway, I attended a Fly-In one summer day and on the taxi out and f light back kept hearing a "clanking" sound from what I thought was the back seat.=C2- Drove me crazy chasing it over the next few flights.=C2- The n, while washing the airplane a couple weeks later, I sprayed water down th e oil cooler inlet and heard that "clanking" sound.=C2- Since you can't r eally see down there, I brought out the shop vacuum and sucked out an empty coke can.=C2- That's why and when I decided to go with the wire mesh.=C2 - Easy to install just by pulling the cover off and placing the mesh over the hole and re-installing the cover panel.=C2- =C2- In the winter months, I install a half oval in the hole to reduce the amoun t of inducted air through the cooler during flight helping to keep the oil temps up.=C2- Works OK, but I wish I had the capability to dial up or dow n the air induction as opposed to just=C2-air exhaust. =C2- Hope this helps. =C2- JB=C2- ----- Original Message ----- From: "Philip Nicholson" <pednicholson@gmail.com> Sent: Wednesday, June 29, 2016 8:00:50 AM Subject: Yak-List: Oil cooler inlet plug (CJ) Good day, does anyone have a lead on an oil cooler inlet plug for the wing root.=C2 - Are they commercially available or are people handcrafting their own. =C2- Doug is out of stock.
