Patrick, if you are reading this, maybe you could use your vernier caliper

Guys,
I need the pop off valve piston (with the rubber end) for my Yak-18T. It is
a slightly smaller diameter than the one for the '52. Any help would be gr

The Yak55 piston for the pop off valve is slightly smaller that for the Yak 52
as supplied by Jill at M14P. I mounted the piston on a wooden dowel and put the
dowel in an electric drill as spun the piston walls against emery paper to turn
the piston down to size. It works just fine. It's been 8 years now.

I don't have the part number. We replace these screws with4mm x 12mm or
13mm metric Philips Truss Head screws. I'm sure you can find the same
size slot head screws in steel instead of stainless.

Have you decided yet? Offended or not? Relax, sit back, take a breath, and pop
a cap on a cool MMO. Let the aromatic red fluid flow through your crevasses. Pretty
soon those chunks of carbon will be falling and fouling your filters for
elimination from your system with your next change. There feel better?

Subject: | Re: Oil cooler inlet plug (CJ) |
All I have is a wire mesh. In the winter, I use a piece of duct tape. A lot
of times it's cold in the morning when I launch but by the afternoon it's
hot. It's easy to put the duct tape off and on as necessary. One day
someone is going to design an adjustable inlet and make some fuel and parts
money. As we all know closing the exit door of the oil cool duct isn't very
effective. You have got to block it from the front.

Greg,
I stock the Chinese winterization kit which consists of a movable door
which installs in the oil cooler duct opening. It allows you to open the
slide door open for more cooling or slide it shut for less.

Just FYI, there is a veritherm that is made to fit the Russian oil cooler. There
are pro's and con's on whether it is a good idea to have it in there, but
for what it is worth, I have it installed in my YAK-50. It takes care of temperature
regulation issues in winter and summer. Not suggesting that it eliminates
having to pre-heat. However, once the engine is safely started, oil temp
comes up very quickly and is stays perfectly in the green even with extremely
cold outside temps. Just another way of skinning the cat.

The veritherm system works well. In cold weather, less than 45 degrees, I can
see mine open up on the oil temp gauge and send cold oil to the engine. Therefore,
I wait until I see it open the first time and let the oil temp come back
up into range before I take off. The first time it opens will send the oil temp
below normal operating temps. Even with 25W-60 oil, I'm afraid of sending
a big glug of 35-40 degree oil to the engine. As always, your mileage may vary...
