I thought there were five CJ-6s flying in Europe?
One (BZHB) is being re-engined with an M14P as I speak (so technically not flying,
I suppose) at White Waltham. CJSA (mine) and BVVG are alive and well also
at White Waltham with Harv's at Redhill and Bruno's in France (which also used
to live at White Waltham).
Some of the guys flew four of them together last year (a first in Europe - I was
banging around in an A320 somewhere annoyingly), hopefully something we'll be
able to repeat.
If you need another Yak-52 to race, we have YAKH which works fine when we can get
it started (slow turn over using a lot of air each time - no obvious leaks
though - any ideas?). I give it 50/50 it could make it as far as Portugal (in
fact, I give it 50/50 it could make it further than the Isle of Wight [Embarassed])
but I'm sure I could rustle up a couple of others.
Anyway, if I enter in one of the CJs, we could all save a lot of money by just
mailing the trophy to White Waltham. [Laughing]
See you on the -400, Etienne.

Hard starting/slow rotation - could be the air distributor is not properly
adjusted/timed.=C2- Don't attempt it yourself unless you're very familiar
with how to adjust it.=C2- Find someone who knows how to do it.

Subject: | Re: 18T Brake Shoes - image |
Brake fading - Much of the brake fading issue is caused by two things- sque
ezing the brake handle, holding it firmly and not releasing it until the a/
c stops.=C2- This causes the brakes to heat up very quickly and thus fade
.=C2- Try "pulsing" the brakes with the brake handle as you slow down the
aircraft to a stop.=C2- This usually reduces the amount of brake fade be
cause the brake pads don't heat up as much.- glazed brake pads caused by gr
ease from the inner/rear bearing.=C2- Once the brake pads get grease on t
hem, the pads tend not to hold very well and our normal reaction is to hold
the brake handle tighter and not pulse the brake handle.=C2- The grease
on the pad is most likely caused by a broken or missing rear, felt grease s
eal.=C2- This is the felt grease seal around outside diameter of the insi
de of the brake hub which slides into the metal cup behind the large rear/i
nner bearing.=C2- Without that grease seal in tact, grease from the beari
ng spins out of the bearing and spreads all over the brake pads.=C2- Thus
causing the brakes not to grab very well.

Subject: Yak-List: 18T Brake Shoes - image
Hi All, 1. Does anyone have a good picture of the brakes and shoes from an
18T. I am having these rebonded and need a pic to send to the
Brake specialist I'm using here in Sydney? 2. If anyone has a new set
available I could be interested in purchasing. Also any new tips or tricks
related to brakes and pad developments to reduce fading etc. that have not
already been posted ? Thanks Andrew

Subject: | Yak 55M master cylinders? |
Has anyone had any experience overhauling the master cylinders on a Yak 55M?
Do the cylinders have o-rings, or cups? Are these parts available? A
rebuild kit?
Has anyone replaced the original Russian master cylinders with something
made in the USA?
Thanks!
