There are no "sensors" as you call them.=C2- There are two micro switches
on each gear leg.=C2- One on the drag link right in the center of the dr
ag link and one mounted on the uplock assembly.=C2- The micro switch on t
he uplock assembly is the one that gives you the gear UP light.=C2- The m
icro switch on the drag link is the one that gives you the DOWN light.
There is a screw type adjustment that depresses the button on each micro sw
itch.=C2- You can manually adjust them by loosening the lock nut on the e
nd and turning the screw in or out as needed.=C2- Remove the cover over t
he uplock assembly and identify the micro switch and adjustment screw.=C2
- With a straight blade screwdriver, depress the button on the micro swit
ch and listen for the distinct "click".=C2- With someone in the cockpit a
nd with the battery and gear toggle switches ON, depress the button on the
micro switch and confirm the red light goes ON.=C2- The green light will
remain on because the micro switch on the drag link is also engaged.=C2-
Now, loosen the lock nut on the adjustment screw that depresses the button
on the micro switch and turn the screw in (toward the button on the micro s
witch) about 1/2 to 1 turn.=C2- That places the head of the screw closer
to the button on the micro switch.=C2- Tighten the lock nut on the adjust
ment screw.
If the adjustment does not fix the problem, you may have a malfunctioning m
icro switch.
Reinstall the uplock cover assembly.
Now you can either put the airplane on jacks and retract the gear to test t
he operation of the UP light or go fly the airplane.Dennis

My right hand side uplock light is no longer lighting up when the gear is u
p.
It started with the light only coming on occasionally.
Then it would require me bumping a little negative G to make it come on.
A week later, it would come on after bumping a little G, but would flicker
in flight.
Now it doesn't come on at all.
I've inspected the 2 brown sensors on the gear and both look to be in adjus
tment. It is not a bulb issue either.
Can someone please explain how the sensors work? It looks like both sensors
are depressed when the gear is down, and not depressed when the gear is up
. What tells the system that the gear is all the way up?
If a sensor issue, should I replace the sensor in the wing well or on the s
trut?
Or can these sensors be pulled apart and cleaned up?

Disregard my instruction for removing the cover on the uplock assembly.
That is only applicable to the standard 52 and the 52W. Not the TW.

Doug;
Took some measurements the other day. There are three surfaces one
could use to define the dome location:-- I assume you are referring to
largest
surface of the plate itself rather than either surface of the attached
nut.
If so that dimension is 1.99=9D.
Not easy to measure so would include a tolerance of +/- 0.030=9D.
Good idea to design a drainable sump rather than a simple drain (as I
have done) that in fact eliminates the actual sump. The rationale I
used here was
that a simple drain would be better than a sump drain that would likely
go unused due to the need for tools to access it.
Possibly not one of my best decisions but based on the premise that
water drainage should only done be after a substantial settling period.
The upward movement of the dome due to positive in flight pressure I
mentioned earlier is a concern only if that movement can contact and
activate the
drain valve. I would suggest a minimum clearance of about
0.25=9D

I'm a ways away from my CJ today and need a measurement if anyone has a
CJ near by. We are working on a improved sump drain for the belly sump
tank. I need to know how much space is available to extend the sump
drain down before it hits the domed inspection cover. A measurement
from the 3 sided flat plate to the cover would be perfect.

Not to ask the obvious but have you confirmed your gear are coming fully up. I
may have missed that if you said you did.
Was anyone on your wing to verify your gear position or have you swung the gear
on jacks? The actuator may be leaking or your up lock parrot hook may not be
engaged. Yes the sensor can be bad too. That is the last thing I would investigate
though. Not sure I would fly it with a unsafe gear light.
That's just me though.

uplocks are working correctly and barber poles are coming all the way up.
