Subject: | help with a CJ motor that will not start |
=0AMy cell phone note was less than clear.=0A =0AI picked up a running CJ m
otor that had been converted to auto plugs (my first with that mod)=0A =0AU
nfortunately, life interrupted the process and I let the motor sit for seve
ral months before I tried to start it.re-stabbed the mags and timed them.
Got it to run and started doing other details. Now it will not start.=0A
=0AThe valves are clean, ie turns over smoothly, the plugs are sparking out
side the cylinders, gas is flowing to carb and drips out if throttle is pum
ped. Primer has been cleared and tested. =0A =0ANo fire at all. ??? Sugg
estions?

Are you using air for the starter? Some seem to have trouble starting on nit
rogen, although I never had a problem. Next I would take a look at the start
vibrator or shower of sparks lead in the mag. Those go bad, it is an easy f
ix. It was running, so I would guess the timing is good..

I don't think it's a wiring issue since he was able to lock the gear in the
UP position by putting negative G on the airplane.=C2- 'Anything is poss
ible though.=C2-
I believe he said the lamp would flicker on and off, which led me to believ
e it was a microswitch engagement adjustment.Dennis
