pump onto the accessory case. Each bolt took at least one full turn to

After tightening these bolts, I then gave the fuel pressure screw one

Bill your first hint that you had a wiring short should have been when the second
fuse was placed inline and it blew.
The Russian write numbers on the terminal ends of each of their wires. If you have
a wiring diagram you can figure out where the other end of that wire is so
you can do a continuity check.
