Subject: | CJ Nosewheel Strut Pressure |
Hey folks, I'm having issues with my CJ getting difficult to taxi in regards to
steering. About a year ago I serviced the nosewheel strut completely, replacing
the old fluid. At the time I couldn't find anyone that knew what the pressure
was supposed to be but several folks said unlike other aircraft, you want the
strut to be fully extended normally but be able to pull it down by hand by
pulling on the prop. I believe I may have lost some pressure which is causing
issues with the over center cam, does anyone here know the proper number?

CJ Strut Press. - Nose; 20 Atm (294 psi), Main; 48 Atm (705 psi).
Tolerance for both +/- 1 Atm (14.7 psi).
Just remember 300 and 700 psi.

If memory serves, if the battery is delivering less than 18 volts can cause difficult
starts. At least that seems to be true for M14.
Glad you found the issue.

Just out of curiosity. What are your steering issues? Does it pull to one
side or the other where you are constantly apply opposite brakes to pull
the aircraft to centerline??
