I have 1/2 of an air-conditioned dorm room at Oshkosh during the convention. The other half is available. My good friend (his name sounds like Poopy) is unable to use it this year. The room is in Taylor Hall and A/C rooms are hard to get. I have it from Sunday to Sunday, July 23 - 30. Cost for a share is $437.50 for the week. I plan on flying up and using the shuttle buses, which are a few blocks away. Short walk in the morning and feels real long at the end of the day. To shorten the walk I sometimes stop at the beer garden nearby.... Contact me off-list please. Craig Payne

Jon, I have just been informed that weekend is the weekend my youngest grand daug hter is being christened. Since it is not a deployment I am going to have to read about y'all in the funny papers. Fly safe... Brief what you fly ... Fly what you brief. That said, if you hope to get a qual ride you'll need to get in as mu ch formation flying b/w now and February as you can. You should arrive read y to check or at least very close... Next month I'll ask for the community n eeds and we'll try to meet those needs at Waycross in February. > > The plan is for a couple days of refresher formation flying to knock off t he winter dust getting ready for SNF in the spring and the other numerous su mmer events. We expect to do some tactical flying Saturday morning and then late in the day we'll go into the attack mode with some flower bombing to s ee who is best at hitting mother Earth with a sack of flower. Given the num ber of former Naval Aviators amongst us (who always brag about being best at precision landings) we=99ll finish the flying day with a spot landing contest. Pappy gets a Mulligan for the stuck mic interference from last Fe bruary. :-) There's a hanger party, dinner and awards ceremony Saturday ni ght so winners will receive highly coveted certificates of achievement (and d oor prizes too!) to proudly display in your office or local FBO for all to e nvy. > > More details next month, so for now... > > Enjoy the Holidays with some down time and relaxation with family and frie nds. > > Jon Blake > jblake207@comcast.net > > > > <Pilot Snowman.jpg>

A couple of questions for the M14P experts on the list. Doing some work o n a Series 2 engine and mystified by a couple of changes from the earlier model. Can anyone enlighten me? 1. What is the purpose of the large access port in the LH side of the nos e case. 2. Significant changes to cylinder fin design. Presumably to improve co oling efficiency yet appears to reduce rather than increase cooling area. Many thanks; Walt --- This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. https://www.avast.com/antivirus
