Justin and Blitz are both correct.=C2- Replace with Zerk fittings.=C2-
Ernie mentioned Grainger which is where I bought mine back in 2006=C2-and
I also saw them at Harbor Freight=C2-yesterday.=C2- As to the close to
lerance fittings... I leave the Chinese=C2-"button head" fittings in plac
e then on servicing, I temporarily screw in a zerk fitting, service=C2-it
with grease, then replace with the button head fitting.=C2- JB=C2-

Hey Harv -
I've had great success using Aeroshell #5 in all my LG fittings.
On my CJ, all the grease fittings have been replaced with western nipple/ze
rk types (readily avail at my ACE Hardware), and they work very well. Howev
er, a word of caution: the uppermost forward grease fitting on the main gea
r trunnions should stay the low-profile Chinese type.
This trunnion - at least on my CJ6 - has a very close tolerance to the adja
cent beefy wheel well mounting bracket, and when the MLG retract, a protrud
ing zerk would strike the expensive bracket.
Western zerk fittings typically have a protruding height of ~1/4-inch, whic
h would definitely shear off during MLG retraction, or worse.=C2- All oth
er LG sites tho, western zerks do great for me.

Can anyone recommend or steer me to where I can purchase a grease gun fitti

ear and nose legs?
I believe it's a called a button head fitting.
Also what's the best grease to use in there (Aeroshell no?)

If it is similar to the Russian compass, it is pretty straight forward.
It can be difficult or impossible to get the back off; they are threaded on
and require a watch style pin wrench. =C2-Securing the compass body with
out damaging is difficult.
Once off, drain, clean replace fluid, replace seal and refill.
