    Subject: Yak 55M Throttle Cable
I can't speak specifically for the 55, but over the years we've had quite a lot of issues with throttle control cables on Yaks which do tend to become sticky and therefore imprecise in operation. There is a particular issue with the 55 with (typically) no carburettor heat, and the first sign of carburettor icing is that the throttle jams, and in such circumstances, you can get rid of it by vigorous throttle movement, but if the ice has seriously developed there is nothing you can do to reduce the power setting! You may also want to check for intake leaks if it's inconsistently holding power at a constant throttle and prop rpm setting when taxiing or airborne. Finally, when trying to go to idle power, if you have carb ice, it will stay at higher rpm even with throttle at idle until the icing clears. (instead of 28% it can be as high as 42% and won't go lower) Jason Bialek used to own Yak 55m 326JB based at KAWO (still having seller's regrets, but happy for new owner) _____ From: owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com <mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com> <owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com <mailto:owner-yak-list-server@matronics.com> > on behalf of Jason . <jason360@hotmail.com <mailto:jason360@hotmail.com> > Sent: Friday, May 12, 2017 7:53 PM Subject: Yak-List: Yak 55M Throttle Cable Has anyone ever had to replace a throttle cable on the Yak 55M? I have been having an erratic throttle lever to power setting issue (lever position not matching power output). Suspecting the throttle cable is the issue. Anyone ever encounter this? Question, do you turn your avionics on before engine start? If so I would put all the protection I could find in line before I unleashed that arc welding generator sitting on top of the accessory case. Garmin offers a GAD 27 which allows for voltage stabilization for start. My question is, I shouldn't need that for my setup since the electrical power is used to open the start valve and power the shower of sparks, right? Those two items shouldn't cause voltage spikes, correct? I believe the GAD 27 voltage stabilization is for those who use conventional electrical starters with high draw, etc. > > Can someone please set me straight? > > Thanks! > Greg > > > > > Read this topic online here: > > http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=469464#469464 > > > > > > > > >
