Subject: Coming Soon - The List of Contributors - Please Make A Contribution
Today! Each year at the end of the List Fund Raiser, I post a message acknowledging everyone that so generously made a Contribution to support the Lists. Its my way of publicly thanking everyone that took a minute to show their appreciation for the Lists. Please take a moment and assure that your name is on that List of Contributors (LOC)! As a number of members have pointed out over the years, the List seems at least as valuable a building / entertainment tool as your typical magazine subscription! Assure that your name is on this year's LOC! Show others that you appreciate the Lists. Making a Contribution to support the Lists is fast and easy using your Credit card or Paypal on the Secure Web Site: http://www.matronics.com/contribution or by dropping a personal check in the mail to: Matt Dralle / Matronics 581 Jeannie Way Livermore CA 94550 I would like to thank everyone that has so generously made a Contribution thus far in this year's List Fund Raiser! Remember that its YOUR support that keeps these Lists going and improving! Don't forget to include a little comment about how the Lists have helped you! Best regards, Matt Dralle Matronics Email List Administrator

Hi Gil; Replaced the entire landing light installation with a Par 36 adjustable fixture (Piper surplus which I just had laying around the shop) and a Teledyne Alphabeam Par 36 LED ldg. light from AC Spruce. Whelen also make a similar Par 36 type unit (and many others). Price slightly less than Teledyne and I think they have a similarly sized unit with mounting provision that does not require the std. Par 36 mount. Walt -----Original Message----- From: glipaz Sent: Saturday, November 04, 2017 3:27 PM Subject: Yak-List: Re: lite blub Walt, what about for CJ landing light? As Mark said. It is mostly a failure at on of the solder joints on the pin connection at the Tach Gen. The actions of your tach indicator point to one of the phases being intermittent or missing entirely. The typical place this fails is in the solder joint of the tach generator cannon plug itself. Not always mind you, but it is a good place to start looking. Lots of ways to check this. You can start by checking the wires with an ohm-meter by removing both the tach gen and tach indicator plugs and checking continuity. > > If the wiring checks good... and you are certain... absolutely certain.... then the next most likely thing is the tach generator itself. Like pin A to B, then A to C, and then B to C kind of thing. Voltages between phases should all be identical. Or close to it. > > Lastly, it is actually possible to remove the tach gen, then CAREFULLY put the end into an electric drill and spin it to create the voltages that need to be checked. The best thing in the world is to just borrow a few parts to figure this out, but you can fervently hope it is just a bad solder joint, which it very well might be. > > Bottom line, I've never seen an indicator fail. I've heard of one failing, but I've never seen it.
