It is such a great feeling that she is showing interest. Right now it just doesn't make sense for me to fly a single cockpit and leave her at home. We need a cross country machine we can go see the Grand Parents in as well so the 195 is a good compromise of being cool and practical for hauling some camping gear and the family. In another 7 years when she is really ready, I'll be able to add a Cub or 52 to the stable If she keeps the interest. She loves that TBM as well! I tell people if Peterbilt ever made an airplane, it would have been the TBM...flies just like a truck. :-) Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=478317#478317 ________________________________ Message 5 _____________________________________ Time: 09:05:43 AM PST US Subject: Yak-List: Re: CJ6 Gill vanes tend to close at Higher IAS From: "stephen.hayne" Question - how do you know how much they are closing? Camera? My CJ gill vanes seem to be 3/4s open on the ground even after I rebuilt them to new limits. IMHO, the vanes seem "flimsy" enough that I can easily imagine how they might close a little at higher airspeeds. I do think that the angle they "rest" at is nicely aligned with the air coming off the propellor, which makes me think this angle is by design. https://drive.google.com/open?id=1OC-TGaAggonunvo1hw7io5my4idDcmfLDg Not sure what remedy there might be... -------- - Dr. Stephen C. From: "stephen.hayne" I did this, but instead of a bolt, used a "single-wing" bolt from ACE - can't find a pic at this time, but the bolt looked a bit like this, but without the hole... much easier to press on. https://www.e-rigging.com/assets/images/p/1244/five-sixteenths-inch-x-three-eighths-inch-stainless-eye-tab-bolt.jpg Only downside is that the steel seems a bit soft and it has "bent" just a little in use. CHT increase soon follows. Does varying the tension on the screw and spring in the control handle do anything or serve as any adjustment .... like a fiction type arrangement ?
