Rich, Ask Pappy and Craig Payne about this. I know Pappy has converted to the B&C 2 8 V alternator and Voltage Regulator. Also ask Doug Sapp about a maintenance manual. The YAK manual has wiring dia grams as well as George Coy has a manual with excellent instructions along w ith diagrams on the power panel. I just had a Gen Fail light so I am sorting through this also but my issue i s the YAK panel. I can not get the 29 pin cannon plug on the bottom right of the power panel to disconnect. It is like the damned thing is welded! Accessed t he original generator regulator terminal block (6 terminals) on the upper ba ck/right side of the "false firewall" and trying to figure out the small wir es on the far left/right end of its terminal block. I've attached my sketch of the terminal block referencing the Chinese diagram inside the terminal b lock as well as the B&C LS1A regulator. > > Since the far left terminal small wire was bundled with the generator outp ut wires, I'm assuming the far left terminal is a chassis ground from genera tor to regulator (terminal appears to have a chassis ground symbol, though u pside down). When I checked continuity from generator end to regulator end o f the associated small wire it was an open circuit...but given age I wouldn' t be surprised if that was just down to a broken wire. > > No idea what the far right terminal symbols represent and the purpose of t hat wire.... > > For the LS-1A reg, any harm in connecting the alternator end of the CH (-) wire to the alternator mount stud (engine case), and after installing a two terminal (+/-) splice block near the LS-1A reg, using one terminal to splic e the old (-) terminal wires together (originally ran in/out from the CH reg ulator), and then running the LS-1A terminal 7 and ground stud to the same n ewly installed block (-) terminal? Other terminal would splice the (+) wire s that originally ran thru the CH regulator. > > I plan on leaving in the filter on the left side of the false firewall, as suming not an issue.
