That fuel vent loop is the nearest part of the system to your nose. Or know a local GA pilot needing a few hours with fuel covered? Expenses covered. RPA is having a memorial for him. Doc Sent from my iPad > On Aug 12, 2018, at 9:30 PM, Walter Lannon wrote: > > > Jon; > > Sounds like possibility of a vent system problem. I dont smell anything during ground operations or when full throttle ops on take off. When I get to about 4000 feet and open the throttle all the way I start smelling gas. When I back off to less than full throttle or about 3/4 throttle the smell seems to go away. Opening and closing the canopy doesnt seem to have much effect on the fumes. The fumes arent overwhelming... but they do persist and seem to be associated with full throttle. > > I removed the cowling; washed the engine and then had someone pressurize the fuel system using the wobble pump while I inspected the engine compartment looking for leaks... nothing. There was a slight hint of fuel vapors around the bottom of the carb but nothing too strong and certainly no dripping. > > Im open to any suggestions and even guesses at this point. > > JB > > Sent from my iPad > > > > > --- > This email has been checked for viruses by Avast antivirus software. > https://www.avast.com/antivirus > > > > ________________________________ Message 4 _____________________________________ Time: 06:53:24 PM PST US From: Roger Kemp Subject: Re: Yak-List: Re: Fuel fumes in the cockpi So is the primer. The wo rk was done by Richard Goode in England via his shop in Hungary. I can tell you about my experiences with the other shops referenced. Give me a call at your convenience, 303-400-1900. I also have a T-shirt of yours you left on the trip to OSH in the house in Wisconsin.
