Another way to find leaks is to use a hand held ultrasonic leak detector. We have four CJs in one hangar and this equipment is shared by everyone. It=99s capable of uncovering even the smallest leak. Worth every penny when the pneumatic system is acting up and the cause is not obvious. There are several different models available on Amazon. Suggest you take off the banjo fitting and check and clean the valve. Also when I did mine, I didn't get the crush washer tight enough and had a small leak at the banjo fitting when I reinstalled it. I tightened up the fitting and Wa-la..... air! > > Greg Wrobel > > On Mon, Sep 10, 2018, 21:04 twvandusen > wrote: > > > After 14 months of working the problem, my Nanchang finally received it's U.S. Airworthiness Certificate. We fixed several air leaks in a recent annual inspection but during a recent runup I couldn't achieve the required 30 ATMs for takeoff. The system still leaks some but it may also be a weak air compressor. Is there a way to test the compressor? What are the limits? They were a 1000 times better than the OEM parts. He also has/had a 50. He might be able to help you out for future needs. http://superfinishersinc.com/ Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=483143#483143 ________________________________ Message 3 _____________________________________ Time: 10:45:42 AM PST US Subject: Yak-List: Re: Weak Air Compressor? From: "twvandusen" Thanks everyone for taking the time to help me out. I'll be home later in the week and will be able to apply some of these ideas to my Nanchang. I'll keep you all informed of the results.
