Subject: | Re: Short field landing practice |
At altitude, induce base to final scenario stalls flaps up and flaps down, use
that to decide if you put flap down abeam or lined up on short final on a tight
pattern. My preference in my CJ is short final...flap down I lose buffet feel
in stick and secondary stalls are more likely in stall recovery than flap up.
Putting flap down only requires a quick adjustment as flap bangs down... and a
CJ makes a dump truck look like a glider with aggressive slips flap down...slips
that youve practiced at altitude to build the sight picture.
>From pattern altitude the numbers can disappear under the nose and you can still
land on them with a safe flare...not a recommended procedure but it does demonstrate
achievable glide slopes.
