Dave;
Surely; You jest!
What you are suggesting here is something akin to Russian Roulette with at
least three rounds in the chamber. The problem is some may think that is a
workable solution to avoid the purchase of a new tank. It most certainly
is not.

Leave the old one intact. Drill and install a new one!

Drill it out......carefully. Leave the hole just under the minor diameter (
hole for tap size). You can then unravel it out. Been there, done that.

Im having an issue with the RPM on a M-14p driven Nanchang with a stock v530 prop
on a rebuilt hub.
It has a new prop governor that was set per the M-14p manual.
Prop blade angles are set to 14.5 degrees per the book. Prop lever moves stop
to stop. The blades move smoothly.
Issue:
Max RPM achieved is only 90%. During ground run-up at 70%, prop cycle brings rpm
down to 41% instead of 53%. In flight with RPM set at 70%, pulling the prop
lever to min had no affect on rpm. It remains at 70%.
More info: I can set the governor to get 100% rpm by turning the governor shaft
manually before installing the prop lever, but then I still am not able to get
the RPM to cycle below 70% in flight.
Any advice?!
