We actually call them "olives", but I'm surprised that an automotive gasket is thick enough the standard size for the M 14 "olive" is actually 10 mm thickness, and we produce oversize ones according to a customer's requirement, and these have been up to 15 mm! Mag 2 is getting a 200 drop and the 1 is getting between 80-100. The plane ran well on my checkout but on my first day to solo my run up had issues so I taxied back. My idle fluctuations were from 300-360 with the manifold pressure erratic as well. The only thing I did was that I installed the longer spark plugs that were BRPs. I wouldnt think that would matter but I cant really tell you how it ran before because I swapped them prior to these flights. I am a new owner as you might have guessed. I was wondering what you think I should check and look for. I just want to take a look at it and see if theres something that is obviously wrong. Could this issue be related to mine. My new plugs were set at .020 could have been a hair more beuse I only had the disc that went down to .020. What are your thoughts? The attaching nut is larger for the M14P cylinder but the sealing area is the same.
