Subject: | Yak-50 fuel tank interconnect tube |
Hi list,
I smelled a a *very slight* fuel scent in the cockpit today and went fishing for
a fuel leak.
It looks like the rigid ~3/4" dia tube that links main & aux tanks has developed
a crack. I didn't have time to defuel the airplane, but given the leak is coming
out of the center of the b-nut, I'm worried that the flare at the end of
the tube is cracked, because the b-nut seems pretty tight.
In general, I was wondering if anyone has replaced this hard-line tube with a fuel-safe
flex hose, which seems like it would hold up under vibe much better.
There are plenty of AN fitting options available, but it seems amazingly hard to
find metric versions of this.
Aside from pulling tanks and welding AN fittings to them, has anyone has any luck
finding replacement metric fittings/hose for these?
Shots of leaky b-nut and hard line tube (when previously removed) attached.
Thanks,
Andrew
