Not knowing what or how the bad mag was tested, is there any chance it's could be the coil on the mag or perhaps the spring that pushes on the contact button at the center of mag? Just thinking out loud. Oops, I said spring pushing on the contact button on the MAG. That's actually located at the center of distributor cap. My Bad. The contact button should move freely to provide constant pressure on the rotor that is on the MAG. Dang I wish I knew what I was talking about sometimes!
