I do make sheet metal hole covers for the CJ. However if you must have
original, then make fabric patches with pinked edges. Glue them in just
like doing a control surface patch, shrink until taut and then dope over
the top before painting. That's how the Chinese did it.

Rich, I cut the fabric out of those on my CJ years ago. I used some old aviation
aluminum that came off an old Cessna wing; measured and cut round plates to
fit back over the holes using tinnerman clips and screws to hold in place. Painted
them a flat gray to sort of match the color in the wheel well. They have
never come loose or fallen off in the breezy wheel well.

when installed. They fit perfectly.
