    From: "1906" <zmadwolf@gmail.com>
I'd like to replace the carb and fuel pump membranes and I'd like to make sure I have everything I need before I begin. I assume it would be helpful to drain the system fuel before replacing these? Will the replacement of either require additional gaskets? I assume no sealant used on the membranes? One of the fuel pump membranes is under the bottom cap (as seen on the engine). Where does the second one go? Does anything need to be done after replacing other than pumping the system to normal pressure and checking for leaks? Thanks! Not necessary. Shut the fuel off at the fuel shut off in the cockpit. That's all you need to do. You'll get a small amount of fuel leakage from the carb and pump. But nothing significant. No additional gaskets. And heaven forbid! DO NOT put any type of sealant on the covers. Where did you see a second fuel pump membrane/diaphragm? Please share that with me/us. Nothing else other than what you've stated needs to be done. Dennis A. Dennis, thank you so much and you are correct. The second membrane I have that looks similar to the fuel pump is actually for the carburetor. This one doesn't look very easy to replace with the carb installed... Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=497636#497636

The membrane also seals the carb cover. Its a flat piece of rubber with cotton net inside. Install it without any stress on the screw holes. Flat and even. Watch for the "hook" when installing/removing it.
