One of the M14Ps I fly seems to be rougher (not quite a popping sound but different than usual and has added vibration) close to landing. 82%, low throttle (very first notch on the Russian manifold pressure gauge or so). Both have MTV9 props which tend to prop brake during these conditions but the other engine is fairly smooth in comparison. It does have less than 200 hours on the engine whereas this one is about 620. Any ideas? Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=502686#502686

Check fir intake leaks. Especially if it has an intake drain kit. Also check all intake gland nuts. Also check the condition of the manifold pressure hose and primer hose. Thanks Dennis. I figured it might be an intake leak. Will do. Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=502688#502688

One more thing - is there an easy way to determine which intake tube might be the culprit? Or might as well do the gaskets on all? Read this topic online here: http://forums.matronics.com/viewtopic.php?p=502690#502690

Guys,A bitter sweet decision but I sold my hangar/apartment at Windward Pointe in Alabama this week. Four grandkids and a lot of flying lately made it the right decision. I have a number of pictures that I bought from Virginia Bader through the years. They include the following: Air Force F-15 Nowhere to HideArmy UH-60 New Dawn (helo in Afghanistan)Navy F-4 Dragon SlayerMarine A-4s Triple ThreatRobin Olds F-4 coming off the steel mill strike in N Vietnam Leader of the PackOriginal John Taylor oil of B-25s on the RangerA Robin Olds montageP-51 cutaway and four smaller pics of my heroes: Chuck Yeager, Robin Olds, Bob Hoover (with his signature) and Bud Anderson (with his signature) This is a museum quality collection. Many of them cost upwards of $1000 each. I simply don't have enough room in my house for all of these and I want to see them go to good homes where they will be appreciated. Email me off line and I'll be happy to send a picture of any you are interested in and to talk price. Thanks Richard Hesshess737@aol.comCell 404-964-4885

The only way I know is to spray the suspected area with propane or carb cleaner with the engine running. But carb cleaner is flammable. Best to troubleshoot this when the engine is cold. So if you use carb cleaner be very careful. What youre looking for is the engine RPM to increase if there is a leak wherever you spay. You could use a propane torch but dont lite the torch. Just use it like a sniffer and just wave the propane gas around the joints I will do the same thing with a lot less danger.
