I got my oil sample analysis back from AvLab (MetalCheck), but I have no id
ea what the results mean. They gave me no numbers to compare it to.
Engine is a M-14P with 8 hours SMOH.
Values in parts/million:
* Iron 14.6
* Copper 2.8
* Nickel < 0.1
* Chromium 0.3
* Silver < 0.1
* Magnesium < 0.1
* Aluminum 1.7
* Lead 193
* Silicon 2.3
* Titanium < 0.1
* Tin < 0.1
* Moly < 0.1
Any idea what these numbers mean?
Jon

Engine oil analysis is trend data. =C2-Unless they find unusually large a
mounts of metal, all it does is give you trend information. So one doesn
=99t mean much. Takes a few to give you good trend data.=C2-

unfortunately Jon, as your first one, especially with a new motor, they mea
n nothing. =C2-You need a 'trend' of oil samples to see how your particul
ar motor is wearing in. =C2-That being said, nine cylinders all wearing i
n with associated accessories.........I wouldn't do another analysis until
the engine had settles down, 50+ hours. =C2-Dos Centavos =C2-Jj
