The third season of the NBA 2K League saw a significant jump in broadcast distribution. Live games were broadcast on ESPN2 and ESPN's digital platforms 2K MT (https://www.nba2king.com/), Sportsnet in Canada and on delay on eGG Network in Southeast Asia and Loco in India and India, which marked the first broadcasts of 2K League games on linear television.
The NBA 2K League attracted more than a million viewers each time it was aired
on ESPN2. The NBA 2K League Finals saw 1.1million unique viewers tune in to Twitch
to see the Wizards Gaming Squad defeat the Warriors Gaming Squad 3-1. Apple
began to notify developers that they need to be licensed by June 30, 2020 or
they'd be ejected.
Tens of thousands of developers chose not to obtain a license from the Chinese
government. Instead, it appears these developers willingly let Apple remove their
products from access to Chinese players. According to an analysis by Reuters
Only 74 out of the top 1500 games paid for received a license to be sold in
China so the compliance rate was less than 5%.
It wasn't just indie developers who decided not to obtain a licence either. Major developers like Take-Two and Ubisoft allowed some of their games to be removed from the Apple app store too. As it stands, NBA 2k and Assassin's Creed Identity aren't available to download from the Apple app store if you are in China. Prior to the December 31 app purge the app store had removed an additional 94,000 apps. been removed from the app store Cheap NBA 2K22 MT (https://www.nba2king.com/Nba-2k22-Mt.html), bringing the 2020 total loss to 140,000 apps.
