Due to recent demands for the overhaul of the Chinese HS6A engines, SC
Motorstar SA of Bacau Romania has agreed to overhaul the HS6A engines. They
have overhauled the Russian AI-14RA engines in the past and had the
government license to do them. The HS6A engine is based on the
Russian/Polish AI-14RA engine and is quite similar. There here are some
differences in the HS6A. They will manufacture the necessary parts to
properly overhaul them. They will supply all the necessary new or
refurbished parts for the proper overhaul. The engine will be run in and
tested in their test cell. Each engine will be released with an Overhaul
Statement in the logbook and a Certificate of Conformity. The recommended
engine life until the next overhaul will be 600 hours.
Each engine will have a one year /100 hr warranty for materials and
workmanship. There is a fixed price for the overhaul and there is no extra
charge for any needed parts. The supplied core must be complete without
major damage. Acessories such as air copressor, carburetor, fuel pump, oil
pump, governor and magnetos will be overhauled as well. They do not overhaul
generators. The turnaround time will be about 60 days from arrival at the
Bacau Romania facility.
You can contact MotorstarNA directly for a quote. If you are in the EU then
contact the factory directly. We can arrange the shipping to and from the
factory on your behalf as necessary.

Subject: | Wing mount bore reaming |
Because of some looseness in the wing (55M), I am installing new wing bolts that
are of a tighter tolerance. The measurements are a bit uneven between the mount
on the wing and fuselage sides and I need to ream the holes to accommodate
the new bolts as well as make everything even - something that has been done
before on this application. The new size is still within the manufacturer tolerance
and the difference (to the new size) is roughly 0.015mm.
The question I have is: should I ream the wing and fuselage holes separately or
as an assembly? In the case of the latter what would be the best way to align
the bores other than making sure the old bolts go in freely?

I believe that they had the fuselage and wings in jigs and reamed the holes
in that position. I saw this process on the Yak 52's at the factory.
Probably your best option is to align the old holes as much as possible and
ream them together

Not possible to use a fuel valve with 2 (or 3 if you have a 3rd tank) to choose
your tank in flight, like on Piper's, Cessna, etc?
Just have to remove the collect tank, maybe individual air vent, cancel the cut
off fuel valve using the off position of the new one and why not an electric
fuel pump.
