The 12 litre main tank @ 50 bar needs 12 x 50 = 600 hJ to fill it from empty. With 20 bar already in it then the 30 bar top-up energy need becomes 600 - (12 x 20) = 360 hJ Which the paint bottle can provide as long as its excess energy, over need, is above the 50 bar remainder threshold i.e. 2 x 50 bar = 100 hJ ... with 620 - 360 = 260 hJ remaining in the paint bottle, that's greater than the 100 hJ threshold, so the main tank can be filled to 50 bar (with manual valve control at 50 bar). If the same paint bottle was then required to re-fill the CJ main tank (again from 20 bar) there would be insufficient energy remaining to achieve 50 bar overall ... as 360 hJ needed and only 260 hJ available in the paint bottle. So the achievable pressure (with both connected in equilibrium) would then be 240 hJ main tank + 260 hJ paint bottle = 500 hJ / (12 litres + 2 litres) = ~ 36 bar Hope this helps (or maybe just confused everyone further!) ...
