Subject: | central tank fuel drain question |
I've looked in the parts catalogs for the CJ and haven't found one that sho
ws the bottom of the central fuel collection tank.
On the bottom of that tank there's a cap with a 36mm nut and through the ce
nter of that nut is a 15-20mm drain device, the top of which presses agains
t the hole in the bottom of the central tank.
On my tank that drain device is metal-on-metal with the central tank.
I strongly suspect that there was some kind of gasket or rubber washer betw
een the drain device and the central tank.
Any ideas on what material that gasket/washer should be? Or what I should
replace it with? Cork? Rubber? I'm thinking I can go with a 1-2mm Neopre
ne washer, or some of that blue gasket 1/16". Which would be a better mate
rial?
Thanks,
Jon
