601'ers/Jabiru 3300:
I have previously reported the success we have had since we installed the
Sensenich 64 X 49. Yesterday I flew it again and have some additional data
points to report. The following numbers were recorded at 6,500 pressure
altitude and 65F OAT: (Read RPM/MPH/Fuel Flow/mpg)
2850/138/6.5/21.2 WOT
2750/130/6.5/20
2650/125/6.4/19.5
2550/120/6.2/19.4
2450/110/5.9/18.6
2350/95/5.5/17.3
The following was recorded at 7,500 pressure altitude:
2300/95/4.6/20.6
2250/95/4.4/21.5
2200/85/4.3/19.8
One recording at 7,000 PA was 2200/90/4.2/21.4
All of the readings are for short durations and will be verified on longer
flights as time and weather permit.
The flight was cut short because the oil temp remained below the limit. The
heat shields on the oil cooler lines were taken off last summer when oil
temps above the limit was experienced. The heat shields will be reinstalled
which should bring the oil temps within limits. This appears to be a simple
fix for keeping the oil temp within limits for summer and winter ops.
I am surprised that WOT gave the best miles per gallon in the 6,500' level
readings. I'm wondering if others have experienced the same results, and,
if so; does anyone have a logical explanation?
Stan
