instead of wings tanks on a 601HD ???

You will have a serious CG problem if the tank is installed behind the seat. In
my
opinion the wing tank option is the best.

Because,I beleve is more easy to do one tank instead of two
and I would like install an O-235 or O-200 engine, I am afraid to get a
CG too forward
My first idea is wings tanks, I think is better too but I just want to get
your opinion about this configuration.

There is also a safety factor to consider having a tank of fuel in cabin

While doing some filing on the cutout for the trim arm on the elevator I
bent the corner of the skin. It's not a bad bend but it's there and I want
to know the best way to go about fixing it.

Didn't see the photo on photo share yet. I used a nibbler rather
than snips to cut the hole when traversing from the top to the bottom
of the trailing edge. This avoided any deformation that the snips
would have induced when going around the bend...

Patrick,
My old Luscombe had a tank behind the pilot and passenger and you
had to look behind you to read a rolling gage. The difficulty of having a
tank aft of
the passenger on a 601 would be trying to balance a changing center of
gravity
during a trip. The Luscombe is a high-wing and this seemed easier to
manage.
What's certainly possible might not be a wise thing to do.

Hello,
I purchased a used 912 from one of the major vendors, and noticed that as I
prepare for the install on the 701 mount, 2 of the cooling elbow nipples are
positioned such that they will interfere with the engine mount.
My question: can these nipple elbows be repositioned (rotated) to correct
my problem? I assume that I dont want to just grap them with plyers and
rotate!

I had that problem too. Those fittings are threaded (pipe threads) into
casting with a thread sealant. If you just rotate them, they will leak.
Mine were stuck in hard enough that I had to ruin them to get them out
(there's no hex or anything to get a wrench on, so I had to use pliers which
chewed them up). I bought new ones and found that I couldn't get them in.
The problem was dried thread sealant. I had to scrub at the threads of the
casting with a brush and acetone to clean-out the threads.
The other option is to remove the casting and send it to Lockwood. If you
mark where you want the fittings positioned, they will remove the old ones
and install new ones. This may not be too bad of an option when you figure
the cost of the thread sealant and time involved.

The elbows are installed with a loctite type product and if heated with a
propane torch the loctite will soften enough to allow you to turn the
nipples slightly or remove them completely without the problem of junk in
the threads. Heat only the fittings!

Yes, they can. The threads are sealed with a heat sensitive threadlocker.
make a wooden dowel that fits into the end of the elbows so that you can get a
grip for rotaring it. gently heat up the threaded area with aheat gun or propane
torch while applying some pressure to rotate the elbow. It will eventually
rotate smoothly and reseal as it cools.
