Thanks for the response Larry,
The problem I ran into was actually on the oil can side. When I would
pump
brake fluid, an air bubble would actually start forming as I compressed
the
oil can trigger, that bubble then gets transferred to the brake line.
I
cannot think of a way to stop this from happening without have a delivery
system that is airtight! Is that the case or am I just missing something
basic?
I had similar problems with the oil can method. I then had an A&P friend
help me. We bought one of those cheap insecticide sprayers at Home Depot
and then changed the end to make it fit on the brake drain. It was a much
quicker job, and air was much less of an issue.

Try taking a piece of tubing - Fuel line, flexible hose, etc - and run it
from the bleeder on the caliper back up to your reservior - then pump the
brakes with the bleeder open and your fringer over the end of the tubing as
a check valve, as you go fll the reservior as the level decreases, once the
loop is full keep cycling the fluid until there are no more air bubbles.
This method is pretty fast once you are set up - it's messy and uses alot
of extra fluid but guaranteed to work.

Here's how I bleed the brakes alone on my 48 Bonanza whan all my so-called
"friends" abandon me and go flying.
Set a clean glass jar on the ramp with it's top slightly lower than the
bleed screw on the brake cylinder. Find a piece of clear plastic tubing
that will snugly fit over the bleed screw outlet, press it onto the outlet,
hang the other end into the jar so the lower end is slightly above the jar
bottom. Pour fluid into the jar until the lower end of the tube is
completely covered. Fill your brake fluid reservior. Open the bleed screw
SLIGHTLY so when applying pedal pressure, fluid will leak SLOWLY out the
bleed screw. Climb in the ship and apply pedal pressure, preferably of the
side you are working on! The brake pedal should SLOWLY travel to the bottom
as the pressure you apply forces fluid out the slightly cracked bleeder
screw. Forced out fluid collects in the jar. After pedal hits bottom,
release the pedal, check your reservior to see if you need to refill before
the next stroke. Releasing the pedal without tightening the bleed screw is
OK as the tube is immersed in fluid that may be drawn up into the cylinder
rather than air. Repeat as necessary. If you have a helper, or can view
this from the cockpit, you will probably see air bubbles exiting the system
into the collected fluid in the jar. Every few strokes, you can tighten the
bleeder screw and see if the brake has "hardened up". The big point is KEEP
THE UPPER RESERVIOR FULL. This is close to an "airtight delivery system".

Dear Zenair List,
Zodiac 601 is a great plane!
It is always a proud feeling to tell you that a new Zodiac is ready to fly.
We have finished our second Zodiac 601 UL with my friend (Zoltan Kolocsanyi,
Hungary).
The first one was built with a Verner 1400 engine (and front wheel) and
finished in 2001.
The second one with a standard Rotax 912 UL engine (and tail wheel) is
ready and we have more than 40 hours in air.
Both were built by sketches, not from kits.
There are some interesting picts of our Zodiacs:
http://www.ultralight.hu/zodiac601/zkepgaleria.htm
(sorry, the text is Hungarian but the pictures are breath-taking )
Our third homebuilt plane is under construction and
it is based on a Zodiac with a lot of changes probably better not to call it
Zodiac,
but we are ready to inform anybody who is interested on about our building
experiences.

Bajusz,
Congrats on the new arrival. Your photos are spectacular! Is it an effect
of the wide angle, fisheye lens, or have you shortened the wingspan a bit
from the original (plans) 27 feet.
Well done.

WOW!!! Those ARE some great pictures! I can see right now that I'm gonna
have to put a couple of camera mount points on my wingtips and tail :)

I'll post pics when I get 'em built. Probably just put a doubler and a
couple of nutplates under the skin for a hard attach point.
The camera mount that I have on my 2-place Quicksilver is basically a
box that I can screw the camera into. I used a couple of RC plane servos
to operate the zoom and shutter, and a mechanical linkage to aim the
whole unit. I'll probably use another servo instead of a mechanical
linkage for aiming the camera on the Zodiac.

Perry,
Thanks. I did send a note to ZAC on Saturday and there was a reply
in this morning. The answer was that with the short strip, 2 rivets
per side will do the trick- 4 aren't needed. So, I'll go with the
one I have, less a couple of rivets.

Larry,
You might let the folks at ZAC know and see if they'll send you a
properly
sized strip; and do the same for other builders in future.

Hello Gang,
Sadly I have to say that N6042T is going to have to go up for sale. I
recently had emergency open heart surgery. I may or may not be able to keep
my medical. But my health and recovery has become primary concern. I hate
to leave the plane sit for a year or so working on recovery and fighting for
my medical.
I really don't know what it should sell for or even how for that fact. If
anyone on the list could pass suggestions (list or private). I would
appreciate any ideas I receive.

Here's how I bled the dual wheel cylinders on my 701. I removed the screw
from the top plate on the pedal (master) cylinder. This screw on my Matco
brakes is a #10-24 (not a #10-32). I bought a brass #10-24 screw and
drilled a 1/16" hole down the center of it. I put a nut on this screw and
threaded into the master cylinder and ran the nut down to snug it in place.
I put a piece of tubing on the brass screw and placed it in a jar to catch
any overflow. If the brakes are mounted correctly, the wheel cylinder bleed
fitting should be at the lowest point. The brake line goes from the top of
this cylinder to the bottom of the other (dual) cylinder and from the top of
this cylinder to the master cylinder on the rudder pedal. Take jar or
bottle and seal two plastic tubes in the lid. One tube will go to the
bottom of the bottle and the other just inside the bottle. Fill the bottle
with fluid and fasten the tube, with one end immersed in fluid, to the bleed
fitting, open the bleed screw slightly and slowly put air pressure in the
other tube. The bleed fitting may leak a little but this is OK. The fluid
will fill the system and come out the screw and tubing in the top of the
master cylinder and into the overflow jar. Some fluid may come out beside
the plate in the top of the master cylinder but can be cleaned up. If a
bubble appears, it can be forced all the way through the system and out the
top of the master cylinder. Also, the fluid can be pulled back through the
tubing into the supply bottle by sucking on the air pressure tube.

John -
Sorry to hear of your misfortune - I wish you the best in your recovery.
If you do decide to sell her please let me know - I have been researching
building for over a year and have browsed your center stick and flap
modifications many many times, I had decided to go with the same
modifications, only difference being the engine, I planned a Jab 3300. I
might be interested in providing a new loving family for your "ex" if you go
that route. Dave

John, I'm sorry to here this and wish you a safe recovery.
I test painted a few extra ribs with the Rustoleum method, the same way you
did your plane, and they are looking good after a few months sitting out in
the weather. I am wondering how the finish on your plane is holding out
after some months of real use.

You have been one of the great contributors to this list and it is with
sadness that I read your last post. The emotion and dedication that you have
put into N6042T would make it a prize for any man or woman. I hope that you
consider the new sport category in your country which would allow more
leniency around your medical, it may mean a year in storage for your bird
but it would be alot less time then building a new one.
But only you would know your state of health. Our prayers go out to you in
hope of a speedy recovery and maybe someday we'll get the chance to meet.

If you discount the fact that I painted it before I flew it. It is doing
very well. It isn't a good idea to paint the plane before flight and working
out issues found during flight testing.
